A 73-year-old man is dead and another is in hospital after a four wheel drive vehicle crashed on a farm near Wairoa in northern Hawke's Bay.
The two men were on a four wheel drive trek in the Ruatakuri Valley when their vehicle left the track and rolled down a steep 25m bank on Friday afternoon.
Both men were thrown from the vehicle as it rolled, APNZ reported.
They were flown to Hawke's Bay Hospital, but one man, believed to be the passenger, died during the flight.
The other man was admitted to hospital in a critical condition. He is recovering well and is in a stable condition on Sunday.
Department of Labour and police investigations are continuing.
