A shopper in the US was arrested in Walmart after allegedly trying to make methamphetamine inside the store.

Oklahoma woman Alisha Halfmoon, 45, allegedly told police she had mixed chemicals taken from the shelves last Thursday because she was "too broke to buy them", Fox 23 reports

"She didn’t have the money to make the purchases of the chemicals that were needed so she was taking what was needed in the bottle," Officer David Shelby was quoted by Fox 23.

"When I saw her she had just finished mixing sulfuric acid with starter fluid in a bottle."

Security guards raised the alarm after noticing the woman had spent six hours in the store and was acting suspiciously.

Halfmoon, who was arrested last month on separate drug charges, allegedly told firefighters she was attempting to make meth but "wasn't very good at it".

A police officer burned his hands as he tried to remove the meth lab, but no shoppers were harmed.

Halfmoon has been charged with endeavouring to manufacture.
