Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom has been allowed $60,000 a month to live on as he fights extradition to the United States to face prosecution over the file sharing site.
The 38-year-old German, who has New Zealand residency, had his bank accounts and assets seized following a spectacular police raid on his $30 million rented mansion in Coatesville, north of Auckland, in January.
Last month, Justice Judith Potter granted Dotcom's family just over $30,000 to live off for three weeks, but access to the money expired on Wednesday.
A court ruling on Thursday allowed him $60,000 a month, made up of $20,000 in interest payments from his $10 million in government bonds, and $40,000 in controlled payments from $301,000 he has in a bank account.
Dotcom's wife Mona was earlier granted $20,000 for living expenses and $12,650 for medical expenses associated with the birth of her twins.
