Akl motorway reopens after crane crash

16:52 Thu Apr 26 2012
AAP

A section of Auckland's Northwestern motorway has reopened after a crane being transported on a truck hit an overbridge.

A section of the city-bound motorway, between Hobsonville Road and Lincoln Road, was closed for two-and-a-half hours on Thursday after the crash, just before midday.

The Royal Road overbridge has been deemed safe for drivers, after engineers carried out structural inspections, but a 30km/h speed limit is in force.

New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) traffic operations manager Kathryn Musgrave says the closures caused delays, but the motorway is open in time for the evening's peak-hour traffic.
