A motorcycle had to be cut down from a tree after the rider crashed southwest of Opotiki.
The motorbike hit a ditch and flew across a driveway before ending up in the branches of a tree near Kutarere at 9.20am on Friday, Fairfax reported.
The rider was taken to Whakatane Hospital in a serious condition and the motorcycle was cut from a tree by a roading contractor who was working nearby.
