Investigations are continuing into the sexual assault of a 12-year-old in South Dunedin.
Police say the assault happened on Thursday evening, on the corner of Kirkcaldy St and Bayview Rd, as the girl was walking to meet her mother who was further down the street.
Detective Sergeant Brett Roberts says the girl has provided police with a description of her attacker.
The girl was being interviewed by a specialist child interviewer on Friday afternoon.
Police have completed a scene examination of the area and have been speaking to people who live near where the attack took place.
