An unlucky sports reporter who was hit in the head by a stray soccer ball during a live broadcast has revealed she was hospitalised following a similar incident in 2005.
Jessica Kastrop appeared on CBS News' The Early Show yesterday to talk about the most recent episode, which made headlines around the world and saw her become a viral video star.
Ms Kastrop was talking to the camera during a pre-match warm up in Stuttgart when former Chelsea footballer Khalid Boulahrouz kicked a football which hit her in the head at around 160km/h.
"Nobody said watch out, I didn't hear it coming, I had no idea it was coming and actually I don't remember the second when it hit me," Kastrop told CBS News.
Boulahrouz apologised immediately, raising his hand and saying it was his fault, she said.
"The lovely thing is on Sunday I was in Stuttgart again and I saw [Boulahrouz] and he came over to me with a whole bunch of flowers and a helmet to say 'I'm sorry'," Kastrop said.
The reporter told CBS News last week's incident was the third time she had been hit in the head during a live broadcast.
"The first time was five years ago and that was the worst time because I had to go to the hospital," she said.
"The second time was in 2008 during a match in the German Cup and that was not shown on the internet so it [didn't get treated like last week's incident]."
