A gunman who fired several shots and took hostages early this morning at the Discovery Channel headquarters near Washington in the United States has been shot by police.
"We have an ongoing hostage situation that we're dealing with," police told reporters.
It's reported the man may have a bomb.
Police said the man entered the lobby of the building and fired a weapon before declaring: "Nobody is going anywhere".
Police would not confirm local news reports that the gunman was James Jay Lee, a man with a reported history of protest against the Discovery Channel.
Police and SWAT snipers are posted around the building.
