The US Army psychiatrist accused of shooting dead 13 people last week attended the same mosque as two of the September 11 plane hijackers, reports say.
Major Nidal Malik Hasan was a member of the mosque at the same time as the hijackers at the time when a radical imam preached there, CBS has reported.
A key US Senator has called for an investigation into whether the Army missed signs that Hasan was turning into a Islamic extremist.
Former students who studied with Hasan at a military college in 2007 have said they complained repeatedly to superiors about what they felt were anti-American views from the psychiatrist.
Meanwhile reports have come out that Hasan often visited a local strip club.
Employees at the Starz strip club told FoxNews.com Major Nidal Malik Hasan had visited the strip club at least three times in the past month.
Stripper Jennifer Jenner said she performed for the medic two nights in a row on the final two days of October.
"I remembered his face because it was the first lap dance I (gave) to a customer while working here," Ms Jenner told FoxNews.com.
"When I saw his face on TV, I jumped out of bed, I knew it was him."
Ms Jenner said Hasan told her he preferred Stars to the six or so other strip clubs in the area because no one he worked with came there.
She said he stood out as he was more reserved and respectful than the majority of customers at the club.
Hasan is conscious and able to talk since he was taken off a ventilator on Saturday.
He remains under police guard in hospital following Thursday's shooting rampage at Fort Hood army base in Texas.
Authorities say he shot dead 13 people and injured 31 in what is America's worst killing spree on a military base.
