A British woman almost blinded after being glassed in an unprovoked pub attack has tracked down her female assailant on Facebook.

Jennifer Wilson stunned police by delivering them Ashleigh Holliman's name and address after their investigation had gone cold due to inadequate CCTV footage and crime scene evidence being cleaned up by hotel employees.

The investigators even asked the tanning salon receptionist to obtain Holliman's workplace details after failing to find her at home.

"In the end I had to do the police's job for them and track this girl down on Facebook," the Daily Mail reported Ms Wilson as saying.

"I gave them all the information they needed to find this girl but they even had the cheek to ask me to find out where she worked so they could arrest her.

"You would expect the police to be able to find out someone's work address."

The Facebook sleuth was dancing on a raised platform at the Walkabout bar in Watford near London when she was pulled to the floor before a pint glass was smashed in her face on March 21.

The 20-year-old was left with "blood spurting" from a gash below her left eye as her attacker fled the scene.

But after recognising one of the culprit’s male friends, Ms Wilson spent two days trawling the social networking site before identifying 22-year-old Holliman as her attacker.

Holliman pled guilty to causing bodily harm and was sentenced to 120 hours community service in the St Albans Crown Court on November 10.

She was also ordered to pay Ms Wilson $4320 in compensation.
