Auckland Zoo's Te Wao Nui, a $16 million development showcasing New Zealand’s animals, plants and culture, has won the Landscape of the Year Award.
The zoo took out the supreme award and three gold awards at the 2012 Landscapes of Distinction Awards.
The Zoo’s curator of horticulture, Hugo Baynes, said the win was the result of many passionate people working together.
The six habitats contain around 60 native animal species, more than 100 native plant species and take up a fifth of the zoo area.
