One Welcome Bay resident got the shock of her life when she found a fur-seal pup making itself comfortable on her couch.
The baby fur-seal had wriggled through Annette Swoffer's cat-door on Sunday night after making a long journey from the Welcome Bay waterfront, the Bay of Plenty Times reports.
Ms Swoffer called the SPCA, who contacted the Department of Conservation, which was already looking for a seal reported hopping along Welcome Bay Rd.
The seal was put in a net and box but as it was being driven away, the slippery seal escaped and made its way up to the front of the vehicle, where it accidentally turned on the radio and ended up on the front seat.
