Auckland’s Aotea Square has turned into a winter wonderland with the arrival of an outdoor ice-skating rink.
Guests at last night’s VIP opening were treated to a performance from the the Imperial Ice Stars who have just arrived in town to perform in
The Nutcracker on Ice next week at the Aotea Centre. The skating was not as impressive when the celebrity guests and journalists had their turn on the ice at the end of the show.
The rink, run by the team from
Paradice Ice Skating, is open daily from 10am to 10pm and is covered so it’s suitable in all weather.
For the next six weeks, the rink offers events including programme free ice skating lessons, skating demonstrations, snow sculpture-making, competitions and themed weekends.
