Auckland Zoo’s recently arrived squirrel monkeys have moved into their new home in The Rainforest section.
Eight Bolivian squirrel monkeys (three male and five female) were brought to the zoo from Europe a couple of months ago.
Then the family got a surprise addition when baby Cheche arrived unexpectedly last month – zoo staff had not realised mum Ratteplan was pregnant.
Primate team leader Amy Robbins says the monkeys are "very mischievious, but lovely".
It’s been a busy time at the zoo with record visitor numbers in the past year – 710,000 people went through the gates in the 12 months ending June 30.
