Auckland’s most iconic building is celebrating its 15th birthday.
The Sky Tower, originally thought of as an eye-sore, is now one of the most popular tourist attractions in Auckland with more than 300,000 visitors each year.
Rising from the ground in 1994, the Sky Tower took two years and eight months to complete. More than 1000 people from different companies worked on the construction. Upon completion the Sky Tower stood a remarkable 328 metres above the ground and was at the time the Southern Hemisphere’s tallest man-made structure.
Aucklanders can celebrate the milestone at the Sky Tower this weekend, with an array of activities and specials on offer for the 15th birthday party.
