Snow was falling in the hills of Dunedin and in the inland areas of Otago and Southland, part of a southerly blast expected to bring low temperatures to much of the country.
Dunedin's temperature was listed at 2.6 degrees at 8.30am on Tuesday but MetService spokesman Daniel Corbett says there is unlikely to be much build-up of snow.
