Blistering heat has rocked the Australian state of New South Wales as residents bake in the oppressive conditions. Temperatures reached in excess of 40 degrees in Sydney on Tuesday with city beaches battling an influx of people looking to cool off.
Rural areas of the state continue to face extreme fire danger as winds blow flames towards properties and major highways.
