Santa has been the recipient of a $100,000 facelift.
After weeks of work on the 20m tall fibre-glass jolly figure atop the Whitcoulls building on Queen St, the wraps that were removed yesterday have revealed a much more vibrant St Nick.
Santa had the makeover because his droopy eye was scaring the kids, according to the New Zealand Herald.

Trapeze artists Eve Gordon and Beth Kayes who were both dressed as elves cut away the bandages to reveal a new smile, freshly painted skin and bright blue eyes.
Santa has been a prominent feature in Auckland for almost 50 years but began to deteriorate with time.
His revamp took four months to complete.
