The Farmy Army will be downing its shovels and spades for its final earthquake operation in Christchurch on Friday.
They've put the call out for volunteers to help them pack and deliver food hampers for Christchurch's most vulnerable people, just in time for Christmas.
The Farmy Army was one of many volunteer groups formed to help with the the clean-up efforts following the devastating earthquakes in September last year and February.
The group of farmers from nearby rural areas brought their tractors and tools into the city to help Christchurch residents remove silt from their properties.
Federated Farmers, Rural Women New Zealand, Young Farmers, the Student Volunteer Army and the New Brighton police have spent the week putting together the food hampers.
Farmy Army catering co-ordinator Helen Heddell says that as word got out about the food hamper operation, the amount of food donated grew.
Ms Heddell says the Farmy Army wants to encourage the same community spirit shared in rural areas.
Volunteers from the north of Christchurch are asked to head to the Roy Stokes Hall carpark in New Brighton on Friday morning.
Volunteers from other parts of Christchurch should meet at the Riccarton Racecourse to help freight frozen meat and home baking to the New Brighton police station.
