It will likely be days before more information is known about a human skelton found in Napier.
A builder unearthed bones and a skull while digging a trench for a fence at a Hastings St property on Thursday, about 11am.
Police described the skelton, which was buried quite a way down the property, as old, but it is unclear how old.
ESR would be looking at the bones next week, police told NZ Newswire on Saturday.
The property used to have a Victorian-style villa on it.
There has been a lot of speculation about who the bones may belong to.
Police have said the bones are too large to be a child's.
They are not ruling out that they may be connected to a cold case.
