Police are hunting two men suspected of robbing security guards at gunpoint in central Auckland on Tuesday.
An armed man approached Armourguard security guards inside Flight Centre on Victoria St preparing to refill an ATM and snatched a box of money while a getaway driver waited parked at a nearby bus stop.
A witness told Fairfax the 45-second incident at lunchtime was "surreal".
The pair drove off toward Queen St as "people scattered everywhere".
Police are appealing for sightings of 2003 Subaru Legacy station wagon, registration BRT315, which they believe has been used in two robberies.
They have released pictures of two men who allegedly stole a handbag from the Quikimart on Great North Rd, Henderson, on January 9. They believe the same car, which was reported stolen from Kohimarama on December 17, was used in this theft.
