A group of six trampers aged in their 60s and 70s who were lost in rugged terrain west of Te Kuiti have been found by searchers on Tuesday night.
Police say the group is expected to make their way out after first light on Wednesday morning.
The group of experienced trampers and members of a Morrinsville club entered the Whareorino Forest Park on Sunday and were due out on Tuesday.
The group used a mobile phone to advise that they had lost the track.
Ground teams and a helicopter were deployed to search for them.
