A 4.5-magnitude earthquake rocked the lower North Island on Saturday morning.
GNS Science reported the quake, which was centred 10km northwest of Carterton in Wairarapa at a depth of 15km, struck about 7.30am and was widely felt throughout lower North Island.
Two smaller quakes hit the South Island on Saturday morning.
At 2.30am a 3.4-magnitude quake struck within 5km of Darfield, 50km west of Christchurch, at a depth of 9km.
The most recent quake, magnitude-3.8, centred 20km east of Christchurch at a depth of 10km at about 8am.
