A magnitude 4.1 earthquake has hit Hawke's Bay, but its 80km depth means it was not widely felt

A deep earthquake hit Hawke's Bay on Saturday morning.

The magnitude 4.1 quake struck 50km southeast of Turangi, near Kaweka and Kaimanawa forest parks, at 8.39am.

It was centred at a depth of 80km.

Geonet says the quake was possibly felt in the Hawke's Bay region.
