River yields no sign of missing driver

There's still no sign of a Korean woman, now missing for two weeks after her 4WD crashed through a bridge in Hamilton and plunged into the Waikato River.

Searches of the river have so far failed to find any sign of 40-year-old Eunki Kim.

Police are now appealing to landowners bordering the river to look out for any suspicious objects in the water.

"As water levels fluctuate with the heavy rains over recent days, we're asking landowners to keep an eye out for any objects of concern and if they notice anything to contact police," Sergeant Craig Singer said.

Police also want to speak to one of the witnesses to the crash, who left the scene before he could be interviewed.

Sgt Singer said the man, aged about 40, was driving a silver or white Mazda 323.

"We believe it was this person who flagged down the witness who reported seeing a person struggling in the water," he said.

Police found Ms Kim's empty Toyota Surf about 40 metres downstream from the bridge.
