Emergency services are responding to reports of a helicopter crash in Taranaki.
A fire communications spokesman told NZ Newswire a member of the public saw the helicopter disappear as it was doing agricultural spraying on Friday afternoon.
A fire crew is walking into the area of farmland, near Mokau.
A police communications spokesman said it appears to be a heavy landing, as opposed to a crash.
He said the helicopter's pilot is fine, but is being checked out by ambulance staff.
