Police investigating the death of a Paraparaumu teenager have made a number of unrelated arrests over other alleged assaults on the same night the 17-year-old was found unconscious.
Izak Millanta, 17, died last Sunday in Wellington Hospital after being found unconscious in a Coastlands shopping mall car park early on Saturday morning.
He had been drinking and was involved in an altercation outside the Retro Bar on the highway through Paraparaumu.
The officer in charge of the investigation Detective Inspector Mike Johnson says police became aware of other alleged assaults and fights that took place in the car park area that night.
He said four men aged between 19 and 26 have been arrested on charges of assault, fighting in a public place and injuring with intent to injure.
"One of these is to appear in the Porirua District Court next Tuesday and the remaining three were dealt with by pre-charge warning," Det Insp Johnson said.
The investigation into Izak's death is ongoing, he said.
A 25-year-old Titahi Bay man was arrested last Sunday over Izak's death.
He was charged with assault and was granted interim name suppression at a court appearance earlier this week.
Further charges may be laid.
