Prolific electronic artist SJD has taken out this year's Taite Music Prize for his acclaimed album Elastic Wasteland.
SJD was announced the winner at a ceremony in Auckland on Wednesday night.
He beat out other finalists including Aaradhna, Collapsing Cities and OPOSSOM.
The prize, named after the late music journalist Dylan Taite, recognises outstanding creativity for a collection of music on an album.
The winner was decided by a judging panel made up of music media and industry specialists.
The judges make their decision based entirely on artistic merit. Factors such as sales, genre, artist recognition and popularity aren't taken into account.
Previous Taite Music Prize winners include Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Ladi6 and Lawrence Arabia.
