Four men have been charged after 2.5 kilograms of cocaine was seized from suitcases at Auckland Airport.
A 42-year-old Brazilian man was caught with two suitcases after arriving in Auckland from South America on Friday, police say.
The discovery in Auckland led to the arrest of three other Brazilian men, who allegedly planned to transport the drugs across New Zealand.
One man, 31, was arrested in Auckland as he prepared to take the drugs to the South Island, another, 35, was arrested in Christchurch and a third, 36, arrested in suburban Linwood.
All four have been charged with drug importation and supply offences.
The cocaine has a street value of $1 million, police say.
