A high-speed police pursuit in the US has led to a frightening motorcycle crash being caught on camera.

A man and a woman involved in the crash on Tuesday in California were allegedly riding a stolen motorcycle.

The pair can be seen weaving in and out of traffic on the 60 Freeway at 7th Avenue, filmed from a police helicopter.

The man then fails to avoid a car travelling in the same direction, rear ending it and flipping end-over-end.

Sparks can be seen as the bike continues to slide along the tarmac while the man and his female passenger tumble across the freeway.

Both passengers are in hospital being treated for serious injuries suffered in the crash that ended the 30-minute chase, the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. reported.

The pursuit began when police were alerted to the bike theft at about 9.45pm, LAPD Officer Rosario Herrera said.
