Noted feminist Germaine Greer has ridiculed Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard's dress sense on television, saying she dresses badly and has a "big a--".
The author of The Female Eunuch, who made the comments on Aussie TV show Q&A last night, has caused a stir with the remarks.
"What I want her to do is get rid of those bloody jackets … they don't fit," she said.
"You've got a big a-- Julia, just get on with it."
The panel and the crowd were in hysterics, to the dismay of many who took to Twitter to vent their shock.
"If women can't have respect for other women, how can we expect anyone else to? So disappointed in Germaine Greer," tweeted Em Mastronardi.
Nic Carrington-Sima added: "I find it v disappointing/curious Germaine Greer, a feminist pioneer, should stoop so low as to criticise the PM's bum. Wtf?!"
Greer is regarded as a pioneer of the 1960s feminist movement.
