Gun pulled on reporter in US

10:30 Sat Mar 24 2012

A US man has been caught on camera threatening a TV reporter with a handgun.

Reporter April Thompson, who works for the WREG channel in Arkansas, was investigating the murder of an elderly man when the terrifying incident occurred.

"We do what we always do in these cases, we go out to find the details," Thompson said.

"But what we found was an angry man with a gun."

Thompson and a cameraman had turned up at the home of Wilton Goudeaux II to see if they could find out any information about his death.

Mr Goudeaux's son is currently in jail and alongside his father's caretaker, Mary Odom, has been accused of neglecting him.

When no one answered the door, Thompson turned to leave only to see Ms Odom's brother, identified by police as Brandon Odom, pull up in a car.

Mr Odom, who is also a friend of Mr Goudeaux II's son, becomes agitated by the presence of the news media crew and tells Thompson to leave.

He smacks the camera but when told not to touch the equipment he replies: "I bet I can do this".

He is then filmed storming over to his car and pulling out a handgun.

Mr Odom brandishes the gun for a moment before returning to his car and speeding off.

The TV network is planning to file charges over the incident.

The accusations against Ms Odom and Mr Goudeaux II's son include giving the elderly Goudeaux sleeping pills, using meth while caring for him, taking around $100,000 of his money and leaving him malnourished.
