Video has captured the moment three fishermen were returning to shore after a bad day fishing on a US river, when suddenly hundreds of fish started leaping out of the water just inches from the boat.
At first the footage, shot on the Illinois River in May, shows just one or two carp jumping out of the water as the man in the back of the boat points and laughs.
But as the boat continues along the river more and more fish begin leaping until the men are surrounded.
The man in the back of the boat quickly grabs a net and hangs it over the side as his friend exclaims, "Oh my God look at that!"
One of the leaping sigh smacks into the back of the boat before bouncing off, and just moments later the fisherman manages to catch one that leaps into his net.
The fisherman quickly deposits the fish in the bottom of the boat before hanging his net off the side again, while his friends laugh excitedly.
Soon enough he catches another one, but as he does more fish jump directly into the boat, prompting his friend to cry, "Oh my god, what's happening!"
By the end of the video the bottom of their boat is covered with huge fish, still jumping about.
The fisherman who posted the video online yesterday wrote that it had been his first time fishing on the river.
"First time fishing experience on a boat. We were pretty sad since we didn't catch many at the end of the day but while going back to the shore this is what happened," he wrote.
