A Pennsylvania woman has been wounded in the leg after a bullet she was carrying in her handbag exploded while she was shopping.
The accident occurred at 2pm Sunday in a store in the town of Montoursville, the Williamsport Sun Gazette reports.
Montoursville Deputy Police Chief Jason Bentley said the 56-year-old woman, whose name has not been released, did not have a gun in her purse and was unaware she was carrying several bullets.
"Something must of hit the primer of one of the bullets," Bentley said.
"The bullet stayed in the purse, but its casing put a hole in the purse and caused a minor leg wound."
The woman did not seek medical treatment until three hours later when her son urged her to go to hospital.
