Man makes video for wife after affair

An Australian man has won back his wife after she had an affair by making an online video tribute to her.

When John Cook, from Casino in Northern NSW, found out his wife of seven years Rebecca was having an affair with another man he was devastated.

"I was really angry. I didn't sleep for about two nights, I couldn't stop crying," Mr Cook, who has three children with his wife, told ninemsn.

"But then my mum came and she saw me and she said, 'You still love her I can tell,' and I realised I did," he said.

"The video was my last ditch attempt to get her back. I thought it was all over and I had nothing else to lose."

The video, which Mr Cook posted to YouTube last month and has since attracted more than 30,000 views, shows a montage of photos of the couple in happier times, with Celine Dion's song "My Heart Will Go On" as the soundtrack.

Mr Cook holds flashcards up to the camera, telling his wife how much he still loves her and begging her to return home.

He said he hesitated for a long time about putting the video online.

"I made it and it was sitting on my computer for about two weeks," he said.

"I'm usually pretty quiet and reserved so it was way out of character for me."

But, to his surprise, the video seemed to do the job.

"My wife has since come home after seeing the video and we are going to marriage counselling," he said.

Mrs Cook said she was stunned when she first heard about the video.

"One of my friends sent me a message saying it was on Facebook. I freaked out, I didn't know what to think," she said.

"The first time I couldn't watch it all because it was too hard. And the second time I was in tears. It just made me think, 'What have I done?'"

Mrs Cook said she was "very hopeful" that she and her husband could save their marriage.

"We're trying to slowly work through it all," she said.

Mr Cook said he had forgiven his wife for having the affair and that she wasn't the only person at fault in the relationship.

"I took her for granted. I assumed that she knew I loved her," he said.

"I never told her and the other bloke did. So now I do, everyday."
