Bond keeps twins from leading separate lives

A set of 38-year-old identical twins from the US claim to have such a close bond that it would be too hard to try living apart, even if it is affecting one of their marriages.

Nicole and Danielle Rego have been living together with Nicole's husband, Todd, for the past three years.

While it was supposed to be just temporary after Danielle sold her apartment, both twins decided to keep living together, despite Todd having a different view.

"I think there are times when it has worn on our marriage," Nicole told the US Today show.

"Arguments that have would have arisen have arisen over it, when Todd has gotten frustrated."

Their struggle to find separate identities has been featured in a two-part series put together by TLC called Twintervention, which aired in the US yesterday.

They star alongside two other sets of twins to highlight how challenging such a close connection can be.

"It's the best of both worlds. My best friend and sister, Danielle, and my husband," Nicole said.

"Honestly, I couldn't think of anything better."

But Todd explains on the show that "Nicole and I need to start doing things on our own, so Danielle can get used to, you know, not being with us every step of the way".
