A 6.17-metre crocodile blamed for fatal attacks in the Philippines has been declared the largest in captivity by Guinness World Records.
The giant saltwater croc, which weighs more than a tonne and has been nicknamed 'Lolong', was captured last November in a town called Bunawan in Agusan del Sur province.
Bunawan Mayor Edwin Cox Elorde told the Associated Press the news of the giant reptile's new distinction, which Guinness announced last month, had sparked celebrations in the town but also fears that other giant crocs may be lurking.
Lolong has stolen the title from a 5.48m crocodile living on Green Island in Queensland.
